So Much for PayPerPost

January 2, 2008 Internet

PayPerPost - Red OpsIt’s been several weeks since Google decided it was time to take my PR4 score and turn it into a big fat goose-egg, and in that time I haven’t been able to make a single dollar through new PayPerPost or TextLinkAds opportunities.  It’s a shame, really … I enjoyed earning the extra $40 a month.  PPP had tried to come out with a new metric to compare sites called RealRank, but this seems to be a non-starter.  In the last two weeks, I’ve had the very same 3 opportunities available to me, and none even remotely match what I talk about on this site … which is pretty bad, considering how I don’t have any particular theme or niche on here.

So what now?

2008 will see me try a few different things to gain some PageRank, but nothing too outrageous.  I’d like to get a PR4 back, and maybe even a happy PR5, but won’t hold my breath for such things.  In order to accomplish this, though, I’ll need to give people a reason to link back to this site.  That said, I’m currently working on two WordPress plugins that will fill a need (I hope) as well as a lovely little Android app that will integrate with WordPress blogs.  Hmm … that gives me an idea for yet another app.

I promise not to go too crazy on the phone apps, but there’s quite a bit of opportunity in this field now that most people have cell phones that are connected to the internet a few times a day, if not constantly.

But what about online income?  I don’t think it can happen with j2fi.net.

So now the question: what cell phone apps are you looking for?  I’ve been working a bit with Google’s Android API, and it seems to be slightly incomplete.  That said, there’s still quiet a bit that can be done with it.  I’ve also worked with Symbian API’s in the past and had some success writing Bluetooth apps for the Siemens S60.  Right now I’m just working on making a very small program that will notify us when a new comment is posted on our blogs.  From there we can read, edit, moderate or delete it.  The key, of course, is to keep it small and usable with just a few keystrokes.  The last thing anyone would want is a Java-like bloated piece of code that’s slow and causes their phone to become unstable :???:
