I think you're right, Frank. We can't forget that RIAA has also been saying pretty much the same thing as new ways to distribute media have been created

I'm not against all podcasts or vlogs, though, as there are some made quite well. My biggest complaint involves sites that have been, for the most part, text-based where the authors think it's now better to record their rants as though it was some kind of "Captain's Log" from Star Trek or a radio talk program. These content creators are often quite good at putting their ideas down in text (which is why I subscribed to their RSS in the first place), but not very adept at making a 20 minute audio or video presentation.

As companies like EveryZing begin to index and score the newer blog formats, I think we'll see an increase in both quality and quantity of these mediums. My hope, though, is that a text version of these posts are made available for the times I'm not at my computer

On a side note, you generally subscribe to podcasts through something like iTunes, and video blogs through YouTube of whatever, so in that sense, too, podcasts and vlogs kill rss numbers.

I think some newspaper editors said the same thing back in the 1920's.

Ultimately I think we'll see devices that allow text, audio and video feeds to be made portable.
