The elevator pressing rule is new to me, too. I had heard about this only a few weeks back while at work. As far as I know, there is no place that has all of the rules written down for people to reference.

Perhaps it's time to start one ... ?

Speaking of rules ... congrats on your marriage! When will we see some pictures?

Zillions of Rules - where can I find a list of these? I never heard about the elevator button pressing before.

There's plenty of that all over Japan. It's sometimes funny to see just how far gaijin will go to avoid each other. Just this month, which is 8 days old, I've seen people:
* move to a different seat on the train
* change direction at the grocery store and try to look interested in squid or eel until I've passed
* look away in an obvious attempt to "out of sight, out of mind"
* give the look of death, because "how dare other gaijin come to Japan"

We sure are a funny bunch of people. In any other country, one group of people will often seek each other out in order to make some friends and feel a little more comfortable in such an alien environment.

"Wanna be friends?" Heh, you should move to Tokyo... Foreigners here avoid each other like the plague. I think that any foreigner-foreigner friendships must have been set up by a Japanese person, because two foreigner strangers sure as hell aren't talking to each other here...

Also, if you lived in Tokyo, you could get cheese at Costco.

It was a nice little challenge. That said, I'm glad you didn't ask for 25 ... that would have messed it up a little

I've never seen gate ball on TV.... That said, I can completely understand why women's volleyball is covered, though I must admit it's interesting to see how often it's on TV. I don't think the sport is this televised in other nations :???:
