Snow in Kakamigahara!

December 19, 2009 Featured, Home, Living in Japan

Yesterday there was a strange little icon on my cell phone.  One of the great things about many cell phones in Japan is that they can show you a weather forecast for the next day or so.  Mine was showing a snowman.  The first thing that ran though my head was “Really? Could it be?”

Since moving from Ontario, I have not had the opportunity to see a great deal of snow before February.  Vancouver is just too warm (for snow) in December, and the same is said for Nagoya.  All that changed today, though, as a healthy 5cm had fallen overnight, covering all the depressingly empty fields and dirty sidewalks.

Here is the view from the train station this morning:

Hopefully there is a lot more snow where this came from. I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.
