Missed Schedule Errors in WordPress

It seems that all is not well in the 2.9 release of WordPress. There’s a small problem being reported by a number of people where scheduled posts fail to publish and instead report “Missed schedule” on the Admin panel. Although I no longer use scheduled posts as often as before, this is clearly not cool for everyone that does use it on a regular basis.
I’ve tried changing the publish date and time to something else, but that doesn’t resolve the problem. The only way to get around it is to copy the existing post into a new one and hit the “Publish” button.
Suffice to say, this is not cool. Hopefully the problem will be resolved with the 2.9.1 release, which may come before the New Year.
Is anyone else seeing this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?
