It’s now 12:50 am in Japan, which means that it is now officially the start of my 29th birthday.  As of this time, I have reached that threshold where I can no longer say that the big three-oh is still over a year away.  This doesn’t really bother me, though, as age has become little more than a count-down to retirement.  Retirement also happens to be the point where I fully expect to have the time and resources to become a professional blogger.

That is, of course, if blogging is still in style.

Jason Irwin in the Fall of 1979To mark this occasion, I thought I would share the earliest known picture of me.  This was taken in the fall of 1979, before I had learned the ever-useful skill of walking and the more important skill of typing 170+ words per minute.  I’ve grown a bit since this photo was snapped, but the intelligence level has remained about the same.

It’s funny how we can go from being so small and innocent, to being much larger and jaded so quickly.  Hopefully my kids will be a little less arrogant than I was in youth … and adulthood.

What Does The Future Have In Store?

I wish I knew the answer to this question.  In less than a month, Reiko and I will enjoy our wedding ceremony in the company of our friends and some family.  We’ll also move into our first home and really start married life, experiencing both the good and the bad, the sickness and the health.  All in all, I’m still looking forward to it, as Reiko’s more than just my best friend, she’s the only person that I want to have kids with (biology willing, of course).

As it stands, my blogging projects are starting to gain a little attention from the search engines, and pretty soon I’ll have enough content written to seriously start promoting the sites to others.  It’s my hope that I’ll earn over ¥500,000 (approx. $5000 CDN) through online revenue sources before my 30th’s birthday.  So long as I can reach or exceed this goal, then I’ll know that I have a potential gold mine in place to really capitalize on.

Aside from these things, there isn’t too much on my wish list.  Of course, I’d like Reiko to enjoy the coming year, and I’d like to enjoy it as well.  A new marriage is always said to be very exciting, so I hope our youthful energy remains strong for a little while.  Getting into a standard routine too early would make for a very boring relationship, I think.

Okay, I think I’m done.  This post has had no second revision or editing, and it shows.  Heck, just because it’s a pointless birthday post, I’ll even refrain from using the spell check.  Hw’s dat fr0 shtylez?
